Does your child struggle with academics, behavior or performance? Have you ever wondered why some people have difficulties with attention, hyper-activity, reading or comprehension?

If so, it is important to understand why movement matters!

Even before we are born, the movements we make help to build the foundation of our neurological system. This system is how the brain and body communicate. As we grow, the brain is constantly receiving information from the body.

Sometimes this communication gets interrupted from an
illness, stress, trauma, or other environmental factors. When these interruptions occur, the messages can take longer to travel between the brain and the body.

Lower levels of the brain control things like survival functions, visual and auditory processing, sensory integration, memory, and emotion regulation.

Higher levels of the brain control things like organization, reasoning, motor function, and problem solving.

Your brain can function better when lower and higher brain levels have strong connections.

Learning how to move your body to support your brain connections is important. This helps to increase focus, learning, and motor coordination. Movement can lead to a calm mind and help to strengthen self-control. Research also shows that adults can create new neural pathways, so you are never too young or old to train your brain!
